Default Ranger versus bush shirt

Hi,

I have seen the review of the Swanndri Ranger Shirt.
Have some of you Swanndri owners opted for the original hooded bush shirt ?

Any advice on why you should choose the Ranger shirt or the bush shirt ?

Thanks

Hi Yukon, I have only owned the ranger shirt so can't really comment on the bushshirt. A swannie ranger is a very worthwhile investment and very hard wearing bits of kit - my 2nd one I got in Red and black to try and be different from the sea of green you often see at the wilderness gathering etc.

They are warm, resistant to sparks but once they're wet they take an age to dry. You can get them with a half zip, full frontal zip or buttons I think.

The bush shirt is more expensive but is bigger and will cover more of your body, that's about all I know about the bushshirts I'm afraid. It depends what you're after really, a Mid fleece like layer then go for the Ranger shirt, if you're after something abit more substantial as a mid/outer layer in dry weather go for the Bushshirt.

I am going to buy a bush shirt. Puffin has the Ranger and I think he said he was going for the Gore-Tex lined version as well. I have given it some thought and think the bushshirt to be of more practical use for me, plus I like to have a hood. I have been using a buffalo shirt for the past couple of winters and love it, however it feels delicate if you know what I mean, would not want a spark to touch it! I have been looking into these since I saw puffins. Interested in opinions on the bushshirt, and the weight if anyone has it.

as yarrow said, i've got a ranger and its a great bit of kit. its hardly been cold enough for me to use it since it arrived but when i have i've loved it. i'd "up grade" to the gortex one if i was buying again as the wind does get through.

the bush shirt is just to long n bulky for me, the ranger is down past my lower back and is like baby bears porridge! i'm also, personally, not to keen on hoods. i find them to restricting, cutting down m' vision and hearing. just my tuppence worth .
