Default More paddling..

Janie and me took her Mum out for a paddle on the Looe river this morning... What a lovely day. We were only out for a couple of hours, but it was a great time...
One or two photos..
We set off from the big carpark slipway on west looe.
The sun was glittering off the water..

Onto the main river and heading towards the sea..

Under the road bridge the sun was playing pretty patterns on the underside of the bridge..

Looe town center..

And looking back..

The water, as per usual was very clear..

This is Nelson the one eyed sea lion. He used to be a tourist attraction until he died. He would swim up the river and get fed by just about everybody. He now has this bronze statue in his memory..

One the way back we spot Blackadder, so we popped over for a chat..

We also bumped into Intertidal. Good to see you again. Hope you get your painting done and can get your boat out soon mate...

Heading back up river..

This is West Looe..

We make way for a big sailing boat going out..

Heading up the Looe river..

How about living here, next to the wood..?

Heron sitting on the nest..

We also saw this tree that was full of herons and egrets, all fighting for position..

This is a photo which shows the typical tree around here.. Its covered in litchen and appears ghostly grey before its covered in leaves. Very unlike the trees I knew in Sussex..

Lovely morning out, which was followed by a lovely pheseant dinner and a few glasses of port with cheese and bikkies... Mmmmmm

Looks like you had the same weather as us

I've had a day of flintknapping in the sun whilst listening to 3 buzzards calling overhead.

Going out on the water like that scares the crap outta me

Looks like a pukka day out Jon, did you go up the West or East river?, spent many a happy hour up there on holiday when i was a kid, we always went into Martins by the car park for an ice cream on the way back.

BTW is the statue of Nelson down by Black Rock?

Sounds good mate. Plenty of buzzards around here too. The bloody rooks won't leave them alone..

We went up both rivers Mark, but not too far. West river, you can only go a little way anyway. I don't know where black rock is. Nelson is just in from the entrance to the river from the sea, on the west looe side.
