Default British Issue Kit

I think I posted before but I cannot find the post...I dont think anyone answered but since I have started to make a few mates on here I will ask again

Does anyone know where you can buy British issue kit like water bottle (current issue style) canteen/flask with a way to attach it to a belt? I am also looking for what my grandad used to call a "British housewife"...a sewing kit that is small and self contained...of course I would need one of you blokes to do the buy for me or deal with a company that ships to USA.

The water bottle I am looking for looks like the type Kepis' hero "Bear Grylls" wears. Ol' Kep was telling me that I have to be off with this Ray Mears nonsense and follow a sensible fellow like "the Bear".

(I am just having you over, Mark ....f$#king with you as we say here)

I bought a belt from Kepis him and need some proper water kit to hang from it. Next a knife from Bernie....I am trying to go as light as I can for fun as soon as it warms a bit.

I have nothing against Grylls, he is a bloody good free climber....but if you try what he shows without training and safety backup you will be "naturally selected". I just wanted to mess with Kepis a bit...I really do want to buy the water bottles if any guys can point me straight?

Cheers

John

I got the current issue bottles from woodlore at 10 pounds a pop, a BCB crusador mug (the stainless one) for 7.50 and if you want a bag I would also look at ebay for one for about 10 pounds. From what I understand the current issue water bottle pouch is big enough for the bottle and stainless mug and has a belt loop on the back.

Most British issue kit you can get on ebay, theres tons of it. The 58 pattern waterbottles you have to watch out for though, cos theres some cheap copies being sold.

Tell me about it. I bought a 58 water bottle pouch, suppose to be unissued. Opened it when I got it and there is a big label inside - Made in India for sake.

The genuine pattern water bottles are a little harder to find, there are plenty of copies and IMHO they're pony. I think I got a genuine one from Endicott's surplus as well as a stainless mug, which are the dogs doo-dads. Ebay as suggested is also another good source, just make sure you ask whether it's a real'un or not.
