Anyone know what the law says about using a catapult? I have one but never yet used it.

I used catapults for years as a kid and never got into bother. I think the key is to make sure you're not poaching (if you're after something for the pot that is), and otherwise just exercise caution and common sense. It's also best to be discreet around roads and other people.

Same as any other "weapon" you still need the landowners permission to hunt with one.

They *could* be classed as offensive weapons in some circumstances (similar to knives, in other words best use only on private land with permission) but they are not specifically listed as offensive weapons. There's no restrictions on hunting with them (like bows) but normal poaching and animal welfare acts apply when using them.
By the way, have you seen this: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9ieWrWLjii0

Aren't there some restrictions about hunting with bows and cattys in the UK? Thought you weren't supposed to do it.

Yes. You're not allowed to hunt with a bow in any circumstance but catty's are ok (subject to what I said above).
