Long John Fenna ?

Seriously though John, that looks good. I don't know about making one from a blanket but I have been thinking about making one lately, even if I have to enlist a little help.

I know where you can get material from but where did you get a pattern from?

As I went to college and learned pattern cutting (a Btec fashion course as a "Mature Student") and designed proffessionally for a while (inc Craghoppers) for a while, I am afraid I made my own pattern, which may apear in Volume 2 of A Basic Guide to Making your own, Budget Bushcrafting Equipment.
However it is basically a big rectangle from front hem to back hem, two truncated cones for sleeves and 2 rectangles for the hood!
Body = twice chest plus 6", length to suit. Arms 22"-24" at the body end 12"-14" ish at the cuff, length to suit. hood measurements copied from a SAS smock..
All sewn on domestic machines.

Hi John
Were you ever in the French resistance The last photo does kind of look like you were.

Seriously though that looks like a quality bit of clothing and I bet it's silent too. Are those big pockets for gathering/keeping hands warm on the front? I can't quite make them out.

There are no pockets in the Hoodie - I ran out of blanket.....
However, the sleeves are super long, to cover my hands completely, even when holding a bottle, mug etc

The hat is more of a Scottish "bunnet" than a French "beret" as it has a cap band, a celtic knot pattern broach and a feather in it!.
I also have a matching shoulder bag made from the same canvas as the hat and hoodie detailing, with antler buckles and closure.
This means I dont realy need pockets, which would add even more bulk to the already bulky hoodie
