Default A Walk In the Woods With Me (56k Warning)

Hello,

I've taken pics of the family woods before, but always from the outside. I decided to take a camera yesterday.

These are the bare essentials for a hike in my opinion. The rifle may vary with the season (or I may just carry my 1911, which is always on me regardless.)

If I'm going to stay out longer or know I'll wander farther, I'll throw in a comprehensive first aid kit.

My Jesus sandles.

I alternate these with my boots. Both have their strengths and drawbacks. I've never hand any luck using regular hiking boots or sneakers.

The woods:

A bunch of deer trails. None of these are man made trails; I'm the only one who goes out there and I just use the trails which are already there.

A deer shelter... lots of tracks:

Random tracks:

Deer track on the trail I was following. This one is about two or three days old.

Fresh deer tracks, no more than a 12 hours old, and probably not that.

Raccoon tracks, no more than 12 hours old.

Deer track, several days old.

Cicada shell.

The following set intrigue me simply because I've not figured out what they're doing. If you hike a mile or so back, you emerge from the woods onto land that is not family land. It used to be a continuation of the woods interspersed with fields, but they really went to town with heavy movers. The machine visible in the picture has been just sitting there for a couple years now.

I have no idea who this land may belong to. Nobody's ever out there... it's kind of eerie.

I hit this every night:

Just a random picture as I returned to the house. I owned a punching bag at one time and prefer this.

I hope you've enjoyed the pictures.

You're a very lucky man is all I can say. Many many people, myself included would give their eye teeth to own a tract of land like your pictures show. Even just being able to wander, hunt, and camp on it would be fantastic. Yes very lucky indeed.
