Default Bivvy bag mod

I just thought I'd share a few pics of the simple little mod I've done to my bivvy bag, the zip/webbing/toggle/elastic all came from an old tent I took apart the other day, so the total cost of this was the thread in the sewing machine and the electric to run it. There's a little bit more or a write up on my blog for anyone who's interested http://stuartsgettingthereslowly.blo...ification.html

Cheers,

Stuart

Nicely done Stu, I take it that's a waterproof zip?

Thanks for that mate.

It's not a waterproof zip at the moment, I wanted to try the theory out before I spent any money on it (that and the fact that I've been struggling to find a source for waterproof zips, suggestions are welcome). I tend to always use a bivvy bag under a tarp anyway so it shouldn't be a problem, I'll probably end up adding a nice big flap on the outside just to cover up the zip at some point though anyway.

Cheers,

Stuart

Nice work mate - I have often thought how handy it would be to learn how to use a sewing machine, I might have to look into it

Thanks for that

They're really easy things to use, and it's a pretty useful skill to have, it saves me a fortune. You should get one and give it a try, I think you'll be surprised how easy it is, I just made it up as I went along and I'm not doing too badly.

Cheers,

Stuart

Thanks for that JP

The bits I need for the final part of my "new" cold weather sleeping set up arrived this morning so a little more fabric engineering and I should be able to get out and give it a try soon, hopefully the whole system should work well, fingers crossed.

Cheers,

Stuart
