Sorry guys forgot to post this on this channel. Any questions please ask or if anyone wants any tips to getting started on your own bow.
This is my latest yew character bow. Lumps bumps knots n all which made things very tricky all the way through the build. Pulls about late 40`s at 27 which seems to be my new draw length. It is 60 inches nock to nock with lightly flipped tips. Belly is flat at rest with the reflex in the tips lifted off the deck so little or no set which makes for a great string at brace tension. Finish is Tru-oil which is a first for me and its great stuff. Very easy to apply and dries quick. Still needs another coat but it makes the wood look good enough to eat,,,well nearly. The handle is dyed veg tan with an arrow shelf slipped in. Beginning to like a small arrow rest. Looses and arrow very nice. Nice creamy white back ![]() Ember red belly. ![]() Braced ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I like that lots Leon.. Lovely finish.
Whats the arrow rest, is it something you have bought, or a bit of wood jammed in..? This has reminded me of a bit of yew that I have to make into a bow. I was gonna get you a pic, but I can't remember why

She is a bit on the thin side mate, i prefer a little more junk in the trunk
If that reflex in the stick is less than 3 inches or so (lay on floor bowing upwards and measure the gap between the floor and the middle of the bow) If less than 3 inches then i would make that the back of the bow. Then i would trim off the sides and back and start to reduce the thickness and width out to the tips. Wont lie to you mate its a pretty tricky build to start off with due to its width. Sapling bows can be an ass to tiller and get right. |
