My children have been desperate to camp out since the start of summer holl's. So far every planned camp has had to be cancelled.
Yesterday, unplaned, we got chance Borrowed the Farm 'buggy' and carted the kit up there before anything could be found to derail us. ![]() ![]() ![]() Few years ago I bought a hammock and tarp. Used it once, let eldest son try it once, twice, ... never got it back ! So I bought another ... eldest daughter had brother put it up for her in the garden, .. from the grin on her face I knew I'd have to buy another ![]() Last night youngest son claimed my new hammock and I'm still on the ground ? !Eldest son has made a camp for himself in different woodland on the Farm and has been hammocking there on his own quite happily this week. After we had set up and got a fire going we just sat/swung and nattered. Youngest had brought an old harmonica I was given in Romania and tryed playing it. He's learning trumpet at school but never been shown anything with a h'ica. In the setting it wasn't as bad as expected, we could recognise the tunes at least, ... and it shut up the coughing yew in the field for a while

Brilliant. I can't wait for mine to be old enough to take out camping.

It's always good to get the kids out to enjoy what you've been doing for years yourself and I know what you mean about the hammocks I ended up having to buy another four for my kids as well but it's money well spent when you see the fun they have in them.

Well, a new DD Scout hammock arrived for my youngest son on Friday. It is great fun and a real joy that my children are enjoying some of the things I did and still do.
It does put a drain on my kit and money, but as Mouldsy said, well worth it They also make getting out easier. For past few years the only time I've had out has generaly been either with them or the Cubs, or planning setting up things for them. Good fun |
