Been very busy on the Disco. Replaced the main and crankshaft bearings, put in a new timing belt, tensioner n idler and I have just painted it.
After uming and ahing over what colour to paint it, a mate of mine found some cheap chassis paint that he was impressed with, so I went with that.
It was a bit too cold when I painted it and I got more runs than Brian Lara, but I managed to sort most of them. I will re-do it again when it warms up (if it ever warms up )






I also have a 2000 watt 7 speaker sound system fitted, which I bought from the proceeds from selling my old air rifle.
Loads more stuff to sort on it, like the front bumper needs tidying, the interior needs sorting. I still have the oil light flickering on idle, and its leaking a bit of oil from the head gasket, so will sort that at some point..
Owning an old Landy is like having a pet dog. It has needs and wants and loves to go for a run, and roll in the mud. It will sometimes have a little accident and needs to go the the vet occasionally, but it always puts a smile on your face.

Just out of interest John, how much do you reckon you've spent on it so far?

I can't have a dog as I am in a flat, so surely I can get a disco a nice 200tdi automatic would be nice

Dunno mate, but I am gonna find out cos I am keeping a sort of diary. I am interested too now.
I have spent a fair bit, but its all been smallish bills and a fair few of them, rather than big bills.
It certainly helps doing the work yourself though. I have had to out of necessity, but I enjoy it like a hobby. Many of the parts I have bought second hand (I am always typing "discovery" into ebay to see whats going local to me).
Doing the timing belt cost me a fair bit, cos I had to buy quite a few tools that are needed to do the job. Since getting the MOT, thats been the biggest bill. Scariest job so far too

A Landy is for life, not just for christmas..
I understand the autos had a better tuned engine.
