Not exactly a "pocket rocket" more a "pocket shanks mare."
I got a stainless steel tea cannister - a rare item around here - about 8.5 cm w (3 3/8") x 12 cm h (4.75"). In it I put my small pellet can alcohol stove (my reuseable heat tab), a cut-down Cambell's soup can (it was really good Bean and Bacon) for a pot stand, a top from a pop top drink can for a flame modulator, a strip of light aluminum sheet about 11 cm h (4 3/8") x 30.5 cm (12") for a wind shield, a 4 oz Nalgene bottle of alcohol, a butane lighter, two tea bags and 4 sugar packets. The lid of the tea cannister is the lid or a cup. 1. It works (not fast but it does get there). 2. It fits in my coat pocket. 3. I can get 10-12 burns (two capsfull of alcohol) per 4 oz of alcohol = 10-12 cuppas. Now I need to sew up a wash cloth into a little bag to carry it in and keep my pocket clean, for use as a hot pad to manouver the hot little thingy and a tea cosey to keep it warm. Sorry, no pictures - don't have a camera. Lets see, Spring, check; pocket stove, check; water bottle in the other pocket, check; binoculars around my neck, check; sandwich and snacks in the other pockets, check; fanny pack with my EDC, check...Where do I carry my bird book and my wild flower book? Maybe its all about a cup of tea outdoors for me anyway. ![]() OD |

A friend carries 2 tops cut off of soup cans and some paper towls with him.
He sandwitches the paper towls(10 cut to fit pieces) between the cut off lids. With 1/2 oz of Iso he can heat 24oz of water. It makes a great stove. Lights and easy to use. Fits in a pocket easily and it works! Don |

Good idea Don. I've read about (never tried) various paper towel tricks. Alcohol is a flexable fuel - it just needs something to keep it in one place. I'm now eyeing another, slightly larger, screw top pellet tin for a different style.
