100 miles from me in north central Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachians lies Bankhead National Forest...day trip today...too early for the plants I was hunting but did see some beautiful scenery..Sipsey Wilderness Area is 64,00 acres containing the only Wild and Scenic River in the state...

I have to see that for myself. I am planning to hike the whole trail end to end in the near future.
