I popped in to cotswold outdoor today as the last time I was out with Jason, Scotty, JP and Aaron I found my ears got bloody cold.

I usually wear a Fjallraven hat that was given to me and it's brilliant generally but is now firmly an autumn/spring hat for me.

The winter hat is now a Lowe Alpine mountain hat gtx. I like lowe alpine kit that I have such as camera bags, climbing clothing and a few other bits and bobs, this hat is no exception by the look of it. It's really light and packable but warm and i'm sure the goretex will come in useful for the crappy british winters.

Anyway, i'm looking forward to nice warm ears at the end of the month!

One of the best bits of kit ever. I wear mine all the time during winter months, no point going up Wharnecliffe Crags in a full gale in a wide brimmed hat! Whooosh! See ya later hat! The LAMC will keep your head warm and dry in any conditions, you look like a country hick but that's the price you pay for warm lug 'oles! Besides, it's not a fashion parade out there.

Keep an eye out on the bay, sometimes they crop up for quite cheap. Mine (Bloody green before I went right off the colour 'cos everybody wears green!) was twenty sheets all in including delivery. Again, great bit of kit.

yeah, I've been off green for a while... i'm a big fan of brown for the woods... though the new hat is black.

Oddly I've never been trally cold while climbing because I always have my mountain hardwear below zero down jacket... I take it off to climb and put it back on to belay or spot. but for standing around in the woods I think the LAMC (that's much easier to type) is going to be spot on... time will tell.

I've got one of those as well Joe, refound it last weekend when clearing up a few boxes in the garage, however I bought a Tilley winter hat a month or so and really like it, has ear flaps and even one for the forehead, but I could not resist this to go with my coat, LOL
