View Full Version : Poncy Food
:soap::soap::soap::soap:
With all the Poncy celeb chefs on telly, does anyone actually eat enjoy all their poncy food :icon_tong
has anyone on here ever been to a celeb poncy restaurant.
me i hate all this poncy stuff, i'm an egg & chip man or bacon butty, they are good enough that they don't need any green stuff with it or "seasoning". Everything has to have a fist full of salt & pepper according to them !! I hate my food being messed with. i seen a poncy chef cooking leg of lamb & shoving anchovies init :vom: i say NO chef...Lamb comes with mint sauce or gravy :tonqe:
& why do they insist on using French names for sauces & dish names :o [-X
sorry but i just had to Rant :frown:

We don't have your celebs here but we do have poncy food. But it depends on our mood, sometimes we like it sometimes not. But is it the food you don't like or the over rated, over payed TV chefs?

I've got to be honest and say that I am a bit of a wannabe chef so I do quite a bit of experimenting with 'poncy' grub because I really enjoy it. I do mean king prawns in tempura batter and my tuna with wasabi sauce has had good reviews :wink:. My latest success is Teriyaki Beef though :biggrin:. I have mastered the mysteries of the great british roast though and even have a bit of an ongoing competition with me mam to see who can cook the best yorkshire's :icon_tong
My top tip for good gravy is - always make it in the roasting tin on the hob and put a bit of redcurrant jelly and a bit of marmite in - it's blimmin fantastic :wink:

Very interesting... I love me Yorkie Puds and I do like to think I make a good roast... Think I will start a new thread...
A friend of mine, if i remember right, went to one of Gary Rhodes places.
Said the bill was over £800 for his family (6 at the meal?) :o
They all got Fish & Chips on the way home though because the portions were so small :lmao:
Hey ho. Although he has some good stuff in his books Rhodes is I think about the worst and biggest ponce of the lot :rolleyes:
My cooking is always somehow connected with a loud "DING" and ....remove film carefully...:lmao:
I love cooking too, and i love to experiment with wholesome flavours and ingredients i like, I prefer to cook out side and do a mean game stew if i dont say so my self lol :) Funny though i dont know where i got my thing for cooking from as my lovely ol mum cant cook, my dad recons she is the only person on the planet who can take good food and turn it into Sh it with out the need for a body to process it lol ;)

JP... you did get your desire for cooking from your mother.... it's called desperation and hunger and they're powerful motivators to learn something :biggrin:
If you want some good story's about mothers who can't cook try reading Bill Bryson, the things he say's about his mothers cooking were superb :)

You should come round our house mate, my Mrs uses the smoke alarm as the dinner gong:rolleyes:
